Trio in epic lineup Supergroup: Anika Moa, Boh Runga and Hollie Smith heading the Classic Hits Winery Tour which performs in two venues in Wairarapa next month. By PIERS FULLER Anika Moa, Boh Runga and Hollie Smith have all achieved sufficient musical status to war- rant their collaboration being labelled a Kiwi supergroup . Their band, AnikaBoh&Hol- lie, is coming to Wairarapa twice this summer with the Classic Hits Winery Tour in February. Smith says she is looking for- ward to being part of the epic lineup the Winery Tour is front- ing this year. The timing of the tour couldn t be better -- it fits in with the launch of the trio s debut album Peace of Mind. It will be a pretty intense month I think. It will be a very, very good tour but it will be tir- ing. I m looking forward to hang- ing out with the Freddy s boys again. We re good friends. I used to live with them all down in Wellington, she says. In October last year the trio took their new songs and tested the waters of performing live together on the annual Church Tour, which was a soldout voy- age around the country, greeted by rave reviews and standing ovations. We just loved sharing what we had created and seeing it come together on stage with an audience. And we had the best time being on the road to- gether, says Smith. With the likes of Jon Toogood from Shihad, Julia Deans from Fur Patrol and Shayne Carter from Straitjacket Fits and a host of other top Kiwi musicians, it will be a veritable who s who of Kiwi music on tour. It s going to be one of the best crews of people on the road that I can recall. It will be awesome fun, she says. The new album has quite a big sound and they will be accompanied by a full band on tour. Smith sas she is interested to see how people respond to songs from the new album. I never really know how people are going to receive things, but I am feeling really positive about it. We had a great time in the studio and I think the music s all there. The songs are all reasonably easy listening be- cause we wrote it with a pop structure in mind, she says. AnikaBoh&Hollie will be per- forming a 50-minute set at each concert. This will give them time to play a few of the songs that they are well-known for respect- ively and also some new material from the album. The Classic Hits Winery Tour is at Alana Estate on Saturday, February 9, and the Tui Brewery on Sunday, February 10. See: www.winerytour.co.nz.
