We are proud to be partnered with a University that is helping New Zealand to retain its position as a world agriculture leader. ' Cheryl Riddell, Central Districts Field Days event manager The official countdown to the country's biggest regional field days has begun. Manfeild Park and the rural town of Feilding are getting ready to host tens of thousands of visitors flocking to Central Districts Field Days from March 15 to 17. With more than 500 exhibitors from Australasia lined up for this year's event, there will be something for everyone. Central Districts Field Days event manager Cheryl Riddell said the event caters for all areas of farming yet is still small enough to get around in a day. But even great things can improve and loyal visitors can expect to see some changes from previous Central Districts Field Days. And always improving the location, Manfeild Park's entrances now have new lights and signage. These will make it easier for people who are travelling to the event to recognise and locate Manfeild Park. Travellers from the south will be able to access car parking through Awahuri to Kawakawa Rd. Also, visitors can access the newer entrance and tarsealed car park from the South St entrance. Massey University has returned as the main sponsor. Central Districts Field Days are very excited about working closely with Massey University,'' Ms Riddell said. We are proud to be partnered with a university that is helping New Zealand to retain its position as a world agriculture leader.'' Massey University marketing man- ager, Tracy Pleasants said Massey Uni- versity welcomes the opportunity to be the major sponsor of Central District Field Days again. Each year the university provides knowledge and expertise to the primary production sector from farming to inter- national trade.'' Massey promotes the highest standards of research and research-led teaching and university staff members work with businesses and industries to create value in the economy, she said. Massey looks forward to joining with the field days community to learn about and show the latest developments.'' CASE IH has returned in 2012 to spon- sor the tractor pull event. Visitors to Central District Field Days will be able to watch the incredible pull- ing power of some of the country's most powerful tractors. The team is looking forward to putting on the tractor pull which allows farmers, contractors and tractor enthusiasts to show off the strength of their modified machines, Ms Riddell said. After the inaugural Central Districts Field Days Tractor Pull in 2010, then in 2011, it is great to be able to build on the event and bring it to the rural community once again.'' Part of this year's competition will be a Business House Tractor Pull on Thursday. I hope businesses will take up the challenge to have some fun competition against each other,'' Ms Riddell said. We couldn't do it without Case IH's sponsorship, so obviously we're really pleased they have decided to return in 2012.'' There are plenty of other events to look forward to with the Stihl TimberAcess, Central Districts Double Power Fencing Competition and the National Excavator Competition. Riddell said the Lifestyle Pavilion, the clothing and outdoor furniture exhibits are very popular with women visiting the Central Districts Field Days. We try to have something for women while the men are out and about.'' The big rural prize up for grabs this year is a Suzuki ATV and Brent Smith trailer filled with goodies. This compe- tition is open to anyone with a rural delivery address and the winning entry form will be drawn on the final afternoon of the event.
