Affordable dining at Cossie Club On the ball: Cossie Club manager Steve O'Hara. Whichever way you look at it, the Masterton Cosmopolitan Club is a great place to eat. With a top chef, excellent food and out- standing value, the Cossie Club could quite possibly be the best dining choice around if you are looking for a great meal for a reasonable price. Chef Marilyn McKinlay takes pride in everything she serves, whether it is in the dining room for the famous Sunday Buffet and the lunch and evening meals during the week, or the delicious bar snacks that keep the members satisfied. Marilyn prepares as much as she can fresh in the kitchen daily. Manager Steve O Hara says the club offers such a good dining experience that they have been really busy over January, which is usually a quiet period for the club. They have hosted many functions and the Sunday Buffet is popular. It s the service and the food that makes the difference. We are there for every seg- ment of society, says Steve. The Cossie Club has great facilities and a warm and friendly atmosphere that people really enjoy. Where else can you get a delicious plate of roast beef on a Thursday night for $12? The dining room at the Cossie Club is huge and can cater to more than 200 people. In fact, recently there was a 90th birth- day function which was attended by 250 people. The Sunday Buffet is extremely popu- lar, attracting between 80 and 100 diners every weekend. The food is amazing and there are usually several delicious meats on offer, a range of salads and the delectable selec- tion of desserts from the cabinet. The a la carte menu is available on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Marilyn has put together a menu that includes some of her trademark dishes for people to enjoy. The menu includes favourites such as the warm chicken salad, and hot ham-off- the-bone drizzled in apricot sauce and served with gourmet potatoes and seasonal vegetables ($12). At these prices a meal at the Cossie Club is affordable for almost everybody. The range of desserts made on site is fantastic. The sticky date pudding, apple strudel and icecream, lemon meringue pie, apricot sponge, and berry and apple crumble are all delicious. The club is hosting psychic/medium Kathy McBride's Messages From Beyond show on February 16. Tickets are $25, and the show starts at 7.30pm.
