Replacing the Origins Festival which was held next to the Kidz Own Playground the new event is designed to be a more family picnic interactive day,'' says event manager Tirau Te Tau. It's going to be a day where mum, dad and the kids can actually partici- pate together,'' Ms Te Tau says. Arts, crafts and a give it a go'' attitude, with a health and well- being aspect are included in the day's activities. There are the old school races for the kids such as the egg and spoon and three-legged races and also events incorporating all generations. Some of the events generating plenty of excitement according Ms Te Tau is the Amazing Treaty Race and Whare Building Competition. The Amazing Treaty Race is based on the Amazing Race concept from the hit television show where participants need to complete a task before receiving their next clue. There are eight clues, all with a Wai- tangi Day theme. We are really looking to utilising the space at Henley Lake for the Amazing Treaty Race . . . it's going to be a lot of fun.'' There will also be an opportunity to learn how to make Harakeke flowers with the Nannies from Te Hauora. Foodstalls, health stalls and arts/crafts will also be available. If you wish to participate the registrations for Whare Building Competition and the Amazing Treaty Race contact Tirau Te Tau via email at email@example.com or 021 110 4488.
